In accordance with the Agreement between Detroit Federation of Teachers (DFT) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.
Position Summary:
The Office of Strategy & Academics seeks up to three DPSCD teachers to support special projects across Curriculum & Instruction and Technology functions this summer. These teachers will work 40 hours per week, for 4 weeks (July 11, 2022 – August 5, 2022), for a total not to exceed 160 hours, at the DFT additional assignment rate of $45.00/hr on special projects.
Selected teachers will support one of the following three projects over the four-week period:
Pre-K Expansion and Kindergarten Readiness
School Improvement Planning
1:1 Technology Integration
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to inform the strategic direction of some the District’s most important initiatives while developing new project management and deliverable development skills that support career advancement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current DPSCD teacher with at least 3 years of Effective or Highly Effective evaluation ratings (or equivalent exemptions)
Experience as a DPSCD K/1 teacher, teacher involved in the development of their school’s SIP, and/or teacher with a demonstrated track record of technology integration highly preferred
Essential Functions:
Support the design, planning and execution of district-wide initiatives by bringing the unique perspective of a current classroom teacher
Support team leaders to develop high quality educator-facing materials and supports, including but not limited to curriculum guidance, training materials, guidebooks, and knowledge articles for the Hub
Work collaboratively with various departments and team leaders to advance shared work on districtwide initiatives
Help organize logistics for meetings and events connected to the focus initiatives
Demonstrate an effective approach to team¿building including clarity of purpose and shared responsibility. Value, solicit, and integrate team members’ different perspectives effectively.
Security Clearance:
Internal Applicants
If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.
External Applicants
In alignment with Michigan law, if you are hired to fill a position, you will be required to submit to a Detroit Public Schools Community District criminal background check. Information regarding required background checks will be shared at point of hire.
