Position Title: Program Director, Summer Learning Full Day (Internal Applicants Only) 

Salary: $50.00 (Hourly) 

Reports to: Senior Director of Afterschool, Extended Day and Summer Programs

Bargaining Unit: N/A

Position Summary

Directly oversee summer school, facilitate development, implementation and advancement of curricular, instructional and personnel functions of summer school in effort to continually improve student performance. On-site administration for operation of school programs, personnel, and facilities.  Assigns summer school personnel. Supervises summer school staff members. Observes the in-class performance of summer school teachers and confers/consults with them regarding student development and progress.

Minimum Qualifications

Eligibility: Assistant Principals and/or individuals who meet the following minimum education and experience qualifications: 

• Must possess and provide evidence of a master's degree inclusive of 20 semester hours in School Administration, Supervision, Curriculum, and School Finance 
• In the absence of the School Finance course work, candidate must show demonstrated experience developing and managing staff and operating budgets 
• Must possess a valid Michigan Teacher Certificate 
• Must possess and provide evidence of state of Michigan Administrator Certification 
• A minimum of five (5) years certified contract teaching experience with a demonstrated proficiency at or above performance at the secondary level 
• Leadership or supervisory experience required
• Must possess in-depth knowledge of curriculum and instruction, adult and child learning theory.

Important Information Regarding Summer Programming:

Mandatory Summer Program Director Training DATES: TBD

Mandatory Summer School Professional Development 3-day Training DATES: July 5, 2022 – July 7, 2022

Summer School Programs will begin Monday, July 11, 2022, and end Thursday, August 4, 2022

Dates:

July 11th - August 4th  (Monday - Thursday) Reporting Dates for Students (16 days) 

Hours:

Student hours (Academics): 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

Student hours (Enrichment): 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Student hours (Extended Enrichment): 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Teacher hours: 8:00 am - 1:00 pm (5 hours) 

Director Work Day:

Summer Learning & Summer Enrichment Activities (Full Day Session) 7:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday
