In accordance with the agreement between the Organization of School Administrators (O.S.A.S.) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, Article 6.4, Promotion Procedure, the following vacancy is announced.
Position Summary:
The Bilingual Parent Engagement Coordinator is a full-time position for immigrant/ multilingual families, including all categories of new arrivals to the United States. The Bilingual Parent Engagement Coordinator supports ongoing communication to multilingual family members to remove barriers and to promote school engagement. This position requires an attitude of wanting to retain multilingual families in the schools, and to impact parent programs and workshop that encourage multilingual parent involvement. This position supports outreach outside of the district to prospective immigrant families to help grow enrollment.
The logistics of this position involve activities related to District and school-sponsored events, and supports home visits and site visits to District families. The Bilingual Parent Engagement Coordinator manages and leads the Bilingual Parent Advisory Council. The Bilingual Parent Engagement Coordinator requires someone well-versed in Social Justice, Equity and Inclusion.
