Salary: $71,324.00 - $88,346.00

Reports to: Deputy Executive Director, Talent Pipelines & Professional Growth

In accordance with the Agreement between Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors (OSAS) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced. 

 

Position Summary:
The Program Supervisor of Professional Growth will manage the operations of key professional growth and career development initiatives at DPSCD including the operations and logistics to support our district-wide professional growth strategy. The Program Supervisor, Professional Growth will liaise across multiple offices, divisions, and departments to develop processes and systems that ensure smooth operations of professional growth initiatives including, but not limited to district-wide professional development events, management of DPSCD’s professional development center and career pathways.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; master’s degree preferred;
  • Experience teaching or working in a K-12 school setting (preferred);
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience managing logistics and operations for long-term and complex projects/initiatives;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with state level requirements for professional development including State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECH) (preferred);
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with designing professional development for adults and/or career pathways (preferred);
  • Experience in developing and publishing external and internal communication through web platforms (preferred);
  • Knowledge of Frontline, Blackboard/LMS 365, Schoology and/or other learning management systems (preferred);
  • Knowledge of Talemetry and/or People Soft 9.0+ (preferred)
  • Experience and fluency with Microsoft platforms including: SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Qualtrics, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage and present information across stakeholder groups;

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Develop, refine, and manage systems to manage district-wide professional learning, including management of district-based curriculum lab and Professional Development center.
  2. Develop, refine, and manage systems to ensure staff can efficiently register for, document attendance, and receive incentives for participation and engagement in professional learning experiences including, but not limited to, State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) and workshop stipend payments.
  3. Provide direct management and supervision to division staff members including, but not limited to, Program Associate II to execute key operations and logistics related to the professional growth strategy.
  4. Coordinate cross-departmentally to manage logistics and operations for district-wide virtual and live professional learning experiences.
  5. Track relevant data and create reports related to Michigan Department of Education professional development requirements.
  6. Develop communications regarding professional growth initiatives for various audiences, including DPSCD’s board, senior and Cabinet level leadership, district instructional and non-instructional staff, and external audiences.
  7. Liaise with other divisions in the Office of Human Resources and other District offices including, but not limited to, the Office of Strategy and Academics, Office of Schools, and Office of Finance to process all operations and logistics related to the district’s professional growth strategy.
  8. Collaborate with other Professional Growth and Talent Pipeline team members to track short and long-term division objectives and key results.
  9. Collaborate with other department leaders to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Human Resources functions.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Security Clearance: 

Internal Applicants
