Salary Details: $15.27-$16.26 (hourly)

Bargaining Unit: Para-Professionals

Reports to:  Principal

In accordance with the agreement between the Detroit Federation of Para-Professionals and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, Article XVI, Vacant Positions, the following vacancy is announced:

Position Summary:

The School Culture Facilitator assist with monitoring the interior and exterior of the school campus, before, during and after school to promote safety and a positive school culture. The School Culture Facilitator will consistently reinforce school culture and maintain the learning space while engaging with students and their families. School Culture Facilitator lead will electronically maintain accurate and complete student activity, disciplinary records, and positive reinforcement systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess and provide evidence a high school diploma or GED Certificate.
  • College degree preferred.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience working in a K-12 educational settings and/or directly with school aged children.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in dealing with students, parents, staff.
  • Knowledgeable of student confidentiality requirements.

Essential Functions:

  1. Oversee student detentions, including but not limited to, in-school suspension
  2. The School Culture Facilitator leads restorative circles and social emotional learning lessons during in school suspension sessions and student detentions.
  3. Consistently reinforce school culture and maintain the space and work place as the learning space.
  4. Engage and work with students and their families; assist with extracurricular programming, and engage and work with outside support agencies.
  5. Maintain familiarity with and enforce Student Code of Conduct and other school rules and regulations.
  6. Communicate with students and implement peer mediation programs.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Security Clearance:

Internal Applicants

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.

External Applicants
