Salary: $71,324.00 - $88,346.00

Reports to: Director, Early Learning 

Bargaining Unit: Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors

In accordance with the Agreement between Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors (OSAS) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.

Position Summary: 

The Program Supervisor is responsible for maximizing participation in high-quality early learning programs in DPSCD. The Supervisor partners with teams across the District and the Office of Strategy and Academics, including Office of Food and Nutrition, Data Assessment & Accountability, Facilities, and HR to ensure District compliance with Licensing Authority and Regulation Agency (LARA), MDE, ISD and other external partners.  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university 

  • Five years professional experience, including two years in early learning administrative capacity 

Essential Functions: 

  1. Vision & Strategy: Partner with stakeholders to ensure that every young child in DPSCD has a high-quality developmentally appropriate learning experience preparing them for the next level of education. Implement a high-quality early childhood program ensuring that a coherent learning experience that aligns with the District’s broader vision for providing quality programming and drives progress toward objectives and key results for the department, including operational efficiency and service levels provided through the team. 

  1. Processes & Procedures: In collaboration with other external partners and grantee, provide leadership, develop and implement standard operating procedures for business processes related to student assessments and screening as required by the grant. Monitor the GSRP as it relates to compliance with policies established by the Michigan Department of Education, the ISD, LARA, and DPSCD: continuously reflect on how systems and processes could be improved, and propose solutions to make the team more efficient and effective in their work. 

  1. School Support: Partner with school program leaders and district teams to offer support to teaching teams to ensure implementation of curriculum and assessments that systematically addresses school needs related to early learning quality. Partner with school leaders and district teams to ensure licensing rules and regulations are followed. 

  1. Professional Development: Work with team to support the design and delivery of required professional development and coaching within area of responsibility; Maintain personal licensing and grant professional development requirements. 

  1. Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively engage constituents, including families, school staff, and district staff to understand motivations and needs, problem solve through challenging issues, and arrive at productive solutions.   

  1. Contracts and Partnerships: Proactively work with vendors to anticipate challenges and develop productive solutions; hold vendors and partners accountable for results. Act as liaison with Partnerships and ensure grant requirements are met. 

  1. Compliance & Reporting: Ensure district compliance with all state and federal requirements within area of responsibility; forge and sustain partnerships with MDE and Wayne RESA to support DPSCD with on-time and compliant delivery of Anti-Racism Commitment: Demonstrate a commitment to antiracism, center racial equity and inclusion, and bring practical solutions to issues of equity and inclusion in schools and on the team. Maintain confidentiality at all times. 

  1. Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. 

Security Clearance:  

Internal Applicants

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.
