Location: DPSCD Central Office, 3011 West Grand Boulevard, Detroit, MI 48202          

Salary: $39,825 – $63,648

Reports to: Deputy Executive Director, Marketing

Bargaining Unit: OSAS

In accordance with the agreement between the Organization of School Administrators (O.S.A.S.) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, Article 6.4, Promotion Procedure, the following vacancy is announced.

Position Summary:

The marketing coordinator provides communication and marketing support at both district and school levels with a heavy emphasis on marketing support and training. This position supports school marketing initiatives by contributing to the creation, development, planning and implementation of school-based marketing plans which includes messaging, campaigns, advertising, promotions, collateral (print and digital), web and social media content, and presentations. The coordinator provides internal support with the Office of Communications and Marketing with administrative support, training, and sharing best practices for department and school-based employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, television/video production, social media management, web development and management; knowledge of current technology, and traditional and digital processes to distribute communications, promotions, and advertisements.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides school-based marketing support including research, analysis, consulting, and planning regarding school programs that align with the district’s strategic plan, and key Superintendent and School Board initiatives.
  2. Designs print and digital collateral for documents (flyers, banners, brochures, promotional advertisements), social media sites, placement on district and school websites, and mobile applications.
  3. Contributes to the development of school-based branding and messaging strategies to increase awareness of key initiatives to parents, students, the general community and district employees.
  4. Supports the departmental needs of the Director of Marketing and Assistant Superintendent of Communications.
  5. Monitors school based social media sites for trends and compliance.
  6. Supports the production, coordination, and promotion of school board meetings, community meetings, and off-site school-based events. Availability beyond traditional workday hours may be required.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Security Clearance:

Internal Applicants

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.

 

External Applicants

In alignment with Michigan law, if you are hired to fill a position, you will be required to submit to a Detroit Public Schools Community District criminal background check. Information regarding required background checks will be shared at point of hire.
