Position Title: School Culture Facilitator

Location: Munger Elementary-Middle School

Salary Details: $15.27-$16.26 (hourly)

Bargaining Unit: Para-Professionals

Reports to:  Principal (or Designee)

In accordance with the agreement between the Detroit Federation of Para-Professionals and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, Article XVI, Vacant Positions, the following vacancy is announced:

Position Summary

Responsible for maintaining and enhancing the culture and values of the students, facility, and school grounds.


  • Must possess and provide evidence a high school diploma or GED Certificate;
  • College degree preferred
  • At least two (2) years’ experience working in a K-12 educational settings and/or directly with school aged children
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in dealing with students, parents, staff
  • Knowledgeable of student confidentiality requirements

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist with monitoring the interior and exterior of the school campus, before, during and after school to promote safety and a positive school culture;
  2. Oversee student detentions, including but not limited to, in-school suspension
  3. Lead restorative circles and social emotional learning lessons during in school suspension sessions
  4. Consistently reinforce school culture and maintain the space and work place as the learning space;
  5. Engage and work with students and their families; assist with extracurricular programming, and engage and work with outside support agencies;
  6. Maintain familiarity with and enforce Student Code of Conduct and other school rules and regulations;
  7. Communicate with students and implement peer mediation programs;
  8. Electronically maintain accurate and complete student activity, disciplinary records, and positive reinforcement systems;
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal (or Designee).
