Position Title: Program Associate II - Budget Clerk                                       

Location: DPSCD Central Office, 3011 West Grand Boulevard, Detroit, MI 48202                     

Salary: $39,825 – $63,648

Reports to: Executive Director, Budget

Bargaining Unit: OSAS

In accordance with the Agreement between Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.

Position Summary:

The position of the Budget Clerk will report to the Executive Director of Budget and Planning. The Budget Clerk will perform budget and clerical duties not limited to documenting and analyzing data to support the preparation, maintenance and reporting of the District’s budget.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or General Education Development (GED) Certificate; associate/bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Two (2) years accounting, bookkeeping, clerical, experience performing general work tasks preferably in school or government business.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist in the maintenance of the District’s annual General Fund budget and budget amendments.
  2. Confirm available funding and audit account strings as budget requests are made.
  3. Prepare, audit and enter budget transfers (expenditure and revenue) on a regular basis in the financial system utilized by DPSCD (PeopleSoft).
  4. Prepare, monitor and distribute monthly detail and summary budget reports.
  5. Prepare/enter information for budget development. Assist with organization and control of source documents.
  6. Assist site and program staff with budget and expenditure inquires. When necessary, provide training to staff on running basic budget reports.
  7. Post/process Payroll Journal entries and work with Payroll, Grants and Accounting teams to resolve errors.
  8. Assist with the maintenance of the District position control module.
  9. Prepare, audit, reconcile and enter District position requests and transfers (new and current) on a regular basis in the financial system utilized by DPSCD (PeopleSoft).
  10. Maintain current and historical archives of position control information for reference and analytical information.
  11. Effectively communicate and maintain cooperative relationships with DPSCD personnel.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Security Clearance:

Internal Applicants

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.
