Position Title: Clerical Series Level III

Location: Renaissance High School and Randolph Career and Technical Center

Salary: $15.71- $18.70/hr.

Reports to: Principal

Bargaining Unit: DAEOE

In accordance with the Agreement between the Detroit Association of Educational Office Employees (DAEOE) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.


Position Summary:

The Clerical III supports significant cross-functional initiatives in a diverse and complex organizational setting. The Clerical III cultivates relationships with a wide variety of internal and, where appropriate, external stakeholders. The Clerical III meets the needs the customer while following company procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Three (3) to four (4) years of previous experience working in an office environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint
  • Must possess good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multi-tiered tasks
  • Proficient in PeopleSoft 9.2 Financial, PowerSchool, School Dude and Zangle

Essential Functions:

  1. Review and monitor specific work assignments to assure accuracy and thoroughness.
  2. Maintain accurate and appropriate records and files relative to the effective operation of the office.
  3. Complete in an accurate and timely manner essential office reports such as payroll, requisitions, etc.
  4. Organize and type a variety of reports, letters, internal documents, file, keep informed of internal procedures.
  5. Create documents/correspondence using word processing software (Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  6. Answer related internal and external questions within authority.
  7. Prepare memoranda, answer telephones, and operate modern office equipment.
  8. Provide customer service, greet visitors, take messages, schedule appointments; have good telephone etiquette.
  9. Communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.  

Security Clearance: 

Internal Applicants 

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check. 

External Applicants 

In alignment with Michigan law, if you are hired to fill a position, you will be required to submit to a Detroit Public Schools Community District criminal background check. Information regarding required background checks will be shared at point of hire.
