Salary:  $12.11

Bargaining Unit:  Detroit Federation of Paraprofessionals

Reports to:  Area Manager

In accordance with the Agreement between the Detroit Federation of Paraprofessionals, Local 2350 and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.

 

Position Summary:

Food Service Assistant is expected to demonstrate good leadership and customer service toward staff and students.   Must be responsible to maintain and clean the kitchen area and food preparation areas at assigned location.  Food Service Assistant will work to provide nutritional meals while following the federal and state guidelines for sanitary conditions.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D Certificate
  • Must be 18 years old to apply

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist with coordinating each meal preparation and counter service.
  2. Ensure that safe food handling techniques and methods are maintained during the food preparation and service.
  3. Assuming responsibility to assist with food preparation.
  4. Responsible for the general sanitation and maintenance of a clean and safe food production area by assigning duties to others assigned to the workplace.
  5. Assist in the general cleaning of the food service area(s) which includes sweeping, mopping and removing trash as needed.
  6. Enforce cleanliness and sanitation in the food service operation in compliance with local health and sanitation laws.
  7. Perform all other food service-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Security Clearance:

Internal Applicants

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.

 

External Applicants

In alignment with Michigan law, if you are hired to fill a position, you will be required to submit to a Detroit Public Schools Community District criminal background check. Information regarding required background checks will be shared at point of hire.
