Salary Details: $55,000 - $65,000 (annually)

Reports to: Executive Director of Facilities and Auxiliary Services

Position Summary         

Detroit Public Schools Community District owns and operates a 218,900 square foot warehouse facility that stores furniture, curricular materials, commercial kitchen equipment and other student instructional tools. We are currently looking to fill the position of Warehouse Manager to handle daily operations of this facility, including freight, receiving, returns and transfers. This facility also handles the District’s inter-office mail delivery to its schools and administrative offices.

The successful applicant will maintain high levels of accuracy in day-to-day operations, lead and develop the warehouse team and provide responsive and efficient customer service to within our District.



  • High School diploma required, Associate’s Degree Preferred.


  • Must provide evidence of a minimum of five (5) years managing a warehouse facility.

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for all daily, weekly, and monthly production activities within warehouse operations.
  2. Prepares and distributes various reports needed for normal day to day operations.
  3. Responsible for ensuring that the schedules are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly.
  4. Responsible for scheduling vacations and time off per policy with the least amount of disruption to the department to meet customer needs.
  5. Control and manage inventory
  6. Supervise warehouse employees and oversee daily operations
  7. Enforce all District rules and regulations
  8. Ensure a high degree of detail and focus on every job
  9. Communicate with drivers to ensure efficient delivery of products
  10. Manage customer service requests promptly and resolve issues quickly
  11. Mailroom management
  12. Train, counsel, and motivate work force
  13. Ensure that all customer requirements for delivery are met or exceeded
  14. Research and correct any unmatched material and packing list situations
  15. Effectively supervise the warehouse management system work queues to ship all customer requirements each day and minimize overtime needs
  16. Supervise daily house-keeping activities to maintain a neat and orderly facility
  17. Perform daily and time sensitive reports and completing communication Logs (Certified Mail and Deliveries) and Check Lists.
  18. Prepare daily/weekly/monthly performance metrics
  19. Coordinate staffing levels to maintain adequate coverage
  20. Assist in the performance of warehouse functions when required
  21. Perform other duties as assigned


Security Clearance: 

Internal Applicants 

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check. 

External Applicants
