In accordance with the agreement between the Organization of School Administrators (O.S.A.S.) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, Article 6.4, Promotion Procedure, the following vacancy is announced.  

Position Summary:

The Office of the Chief of Staff seeks a dynamic Engagement Coordinator to join the growing Enrollment Team. The Engagement Coordinator will play a critical role in growing enrollment in DPSCD schools and supporting families across Detroit. The Engagement Coordinator will help to design and implement large-scale projects that engage families throughout the enrollment experience, from generating interest in DPSCD, to selecting the best-fit school, to completing enrollment processes. The Engagement Coordinator will provide direct supports to families to help them navigate the enrollment process, as well as support to schools to help them recruit, enroll, and retain students. Ideal candidates will have outstanding customer service skills, ability to manage logistical details and multiple tasks, and strong attention to detail.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least two (2) years of community outreach or program management experience, ideally in a school or youth-focused environment.
  • Must possess and provide evidence of a High School Diploma or GED Certificate.  Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high customer service standards. Proven ability to effectively address the needs of families, school staff and district colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use sound judgment and think on your feet. Ability to learn quickly.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills; proven ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different teams.
  • Maintain a strict level of confidentiality as it relates to handling student information.
  • Willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to the success of a dynamic team committed to a new future for Detroit education.

 

 

Essential Functions

  1. Help to design and implement flagship enrollment initiatives designed to engage, recruit, enroll and retain families in DPSCD schools, including key efforts targeting transition grades: Kindergarten, 6th, and 9th grades.
  2. Manage essential operations and logistics for enrollment initiatives, ensuring that processes run smoothly and that families have positive experiences when interacting with DPSCD.
  3. Coordinate with schools and other DPSCD central office departments to align outreach, enrollment and retention efforts.
  4. Engage families and support them in navigating the enrollment process; includes providing 1:1 support to families, as well as implementing initiatives to provide support to families at scale.
  5. Develop written communication for families, other external stakeholders, and schools to help them understand and navigate the enrollment process; includes website content and internal briefings.
  6. Track data from engagement and enrollment and retention activities to help measure the impact of the team’s work.
  7. Work with colleagues across the Enrollment team to think creatively about how best to engage and support existing and prospective families.
  8. Fulfill other duties as allowable according to Title II, A guidelines.

 

 

Security Clearance:

Internal Applicants

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.
