Position Summary

The Admissions Systems Administrator will manage the admissions system and data for the District’s Selective Admissions Schools. This includes examination high schools, K-12 application schools, fine and performing arts schools, Montessori schools and other non-general admissions schools or programs.

The Admissions Manager will work collaboratively with the Senior Director of Admissions, the Enrollment Data Analyst and other staff to ensure all aspects of the admissions cycle are effectively executed, including application development, admissions data management, admission and waitlist systems management and student dismissal. Successful candidates will have an eye for detail; exceptional analytical and technical skills; and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or Master’s degree preferred.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the area of student enrollment or admissions
  • Experience working in a K-12 educational setting
  • Experience with instructional design platforms such as Captivate
  • Familiarity with Power School or other student information systems
  • Experience working with a CRM
  • Experience analyzing large and complex data sets and producing clear and easily understandable reports.
  • Fluency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, Project, SharePoint)
  • Expert use of Excel
  • Proficiency with HTML, Basic R and other coding languages

 

Essential Functions

Under the direction of the Senior Director, Admissions, the Admissions Systems Administrator will:

  • Serve as Systems Administrator for the District’s application system
  • Manage application development for each application cycle
  • Work with the Admissions Specialist to manage centralized application review and scoring processes
  • Coordinate and/or provide technical training and support for school staff, as determined by their needs
  • Provide oversight and conduct tracking of school-level placement decisions
  • Create analysis tools to facilitate various stages of the admissions processes
  • Administer annual student dismissal process
  • Develop and manage a waitlist system for all over-capacity schools, including neighborhood schools
  • Manage admissions data to ensure accuracy in reporting
  • Develop and maintain an admissions dashboard
  • Produce timely and relevant admissions reports
  • Work with the Enrollment Data Analyst to analyze admissions data to drive continued improvement and program efficacy within the Office of Enrollment.
  • Monitor application, admission and enrollment trends across the portfolio to inform district school development and placement strategy
  • Work with Senior Director of Admissions to develop administrative guidelines and written internal procedures for selective school staff

Security Clearance:

Internal Applicants

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools employee, presently employed with the district, you do not have to submit a fee related to obtaining the Detroit Public Schools security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of security clearance.

External Applicants

If you are hired to fill a vacant position, you will be required to submit a Detroit Public Schools security clearance. At point of offer to hire, you will be responsible for a non-refundable payment of $64.50 via Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover Card, cashier's check, or money order, payable to the DPSCD Police Department.
