In accordance with the Agreement between Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors (OSAS) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.

Position Summary:

The Digital Media Manager for Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) will oversee the district’s digital presence, including its official social media platforms, to ensure consistent, professional, and engaging content that reflects the district’s values and mission. This role requires a strategic, creative professional capable of managing multiple priorities and collaborating across more than 25 departments and 106 schools to effectively communicate DPSCD’s initiatives, achievements, and resources to diverse audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience managing social media accounts for an organization, preferably in    

         the education or nonprofit sector.

• Proven expertise in creating and managing social media campaigns with measurable results.

• Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.

• Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing software.

• Familiarity with social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social).

• Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in or with a large urban school district.

• Knowledge of Detroit’s community and education landscape.

• Advanced understanding of analytics tools, including Google Analytics and social platform insights.

Essential Functions:

    Strategy Development and Execution

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital and social media strategy aligned with the district’s overall communications and engagement goals.

  • Establish measurable objectives for social media growth, engagement, and community impact.

  • Create editorial calendars that align with district-wide events, campaigns, and initiatives.

  • Stay up to date on digital trends and emerging platforms to recommend and implement innovations.

   Social Media Management

  • Manage all official DPSCD social media accounts, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok.

  • Publish content that promotes district-wide initiatives, celebrates school successes, and shares vital information with stakeholders.

  • Monitor, respond to, and engage with comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.

  • Create guidelines for consistent tone, voice, and style across all digital channels.

   Content Creation

  • Collaborate with district departments, schools, and leadership to develop engaging and visually appealing digital content, including videos, graphics, and written posts.

  • Oversee photography and videography efforts for social media campaigns and day-to-day posts.

  • Ensure compliance with brand guidelines and maintain quality control for all digital materials.

    Collaboration and Support

  • Act as the central liaison for social media efforts across departments and schools, providing training, support, and resources for staff managing local accounts.

  • Coordinate with departments to amplify campaigns, special events, and announcements.

  • Work closely with the Communications and Marketing teams to align digital media strategies with broader messaging and marketing goals.

   Analytics and Reporting

  • Track, analyze, and report on social media metrics to assess campaign performance and inform future strategies.

  • Use data insights to optimize content and engagement.

  • Regularly share performance reports with leadership to highlight achievements and areas for improvement.

   Crisis and Issue Management

  • Monitor social media for potential issues or crises and coordinate responses in alignment with district leadership.

  • Develop strategies for proactive communication to address community concerns.

  • Maintain a crisis communication protocol for digital platforms.

   Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
