In accordance with the OSAS and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.
Position Summary:
The SIS Support Coordinator plays a crucial role within the Student Information Services (SIS) department, focusing on three primary areas: providing direct school support, developing and delivering training materials and resources, and collecting and analyzing key support metrics to improve service delivery. This position is critical to ensuring the effective use of the District's student information system across all schools and departments.
As the primary point of contact for school teams, the SIS Support Coordinator provides accurate and timely guidance, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making and efficient system use. They are responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive bank of training resources, facilitating smooth onboarding processes, and continuous professional development for SIS users. Additionally, the SIS Support Coordinator collects and analyzes support metrics to inform strategies for both centralized and grassroots SIS support, continuously improving the District's SIS infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines technical proficiency in PowerSchool with a deep understanding of educational processes, exemplary customer service skills, and a commitment to system improvement that positively impacts students and educators across the District.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years of daily experience working with a school district's student information system
Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a customer service-oriented mindset
Strong organizational skills with the ability to collect, report on, and analyze data to improve training and support systems
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a data-driven environment
Proven ability to support others through changes and new initiatives, particularly in influencing school staff practices
Proficiency in using and troubleshooting student information systems, particularly PowerSchool
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to develop and deliver effective training materials and presentations
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of or prior experience implementing PowerSchool, PowerTeacher Pro, and/or other SIS platforms
Experience in pupil accounting principles, practices, and methods
Working knowledge of district and school-level business processes related to SIS
Familiarity with the requirements and timelines for student data submissions to the Michigan Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Education
Essential Functions:
SIS Support and Training
Act as the primary support contact for designated school SIS teams, providing timely and accurate responses to inquiries via phone, online, and in person
Develop and deliver professional development materials and resources for SIS end users, ensuring comprehensive support for a wide range of stakeholders
Develop top-tier help desk and support mechanisms, including logistical support for remote and live SIS trainings
Collaboration and Integration
Work closely with other SIS team members to stay informed about the District's SIS configuration and its role in promoting high-quality data practices and efficient use
Collaborate with other departments to integrate SIS with various processes and initiatives
Build strong relationships with managers, staff, and colleagues to support the implementation of the District's strategic plan
Continuous Improvement
Participate in knowledge management systems to improve district communication and support continuous development
Collect and analyze SIS support metrics to inform strategies for centralized and grassroots SIS support
Contribute to team-building efforts, ensuring clarity of purpose, shared responsibility, and effective integration of diverse perspectives
