Location: Office of School Health and Wellness 

Salary: $76,484 - $103,799

Reports to: Senior Director of Nursing  

Bargaining Unit: N/A

Telecommuting Eligibility: Not eligible for telecommuting

 

Position Summary: 

The RN Team Leader (ESE) will monitor the nursing functions of ESE schools and transportation nurses. The ESE Team Leader will interpret medical orders as needed and assure that medical orders are updated and remain current. Provide clinical direction to school nurses as needed. Provide training and professional development to ESE nursing staff. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current, unencumbered License to practice as a Registered Nurse in Michigan. 

  • Experience working with ESE schools and students. 

  • Knowledge of student evaluations, i.e. IEP’s and 504 plans. 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Registered Nurse. 

Essential Functions:

The RN Team Leader (ESE) will monitor the daily clinical operations of ESE schools, including the following: 

  1. Monitor the daily attendance of the ESE nursing staff  

  1. Act as a liaison for transportation nurses. 

  1. Receive medical records from all schools. 

  1. Receive monthly data reporting from nurses and submit to the Senior Director of Nursing. 

  1. Ensure that nursing team is properly documenting health related information and collecting appropriate data  

  1. Assist with the training and certification of the 4-person health team. 

  1. Provide clinical direction to nurses in urgent/emergent situations. 

  1. Maintain communication with staffing agencies regarding contractual nursing attendance and job performance. 

  1. Maintain the inventory, ordering, and disbursement of supplies for school clinics. 

  1. Maintain vaccine monitoring and inventory during summer months, and support immunization events including vaccine administration as needed. 

  1. Assist to complete Performance evaluations for DPSCD staff. 

  1. Assist with Medicaid billing. 

  1. Monitor nurse attendance, review and ursing timesheets as needed. 

  1. Perform other duties as assigned through Office of Physical Health. 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills: 

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.  

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook applications. 

  1. Knowledgeable in the use of the Electronic Medical Record. 

  1. Knowledgeable in the use of MCIR functionality. 

  1. Proficient in oral and written communication. 

  1. Provide accurate, concise documentation. 

  1. Maintain confidentiality in handling of student records. 

  1. Act as a liaison between school administration and nursing staff. 

Security Clearance: 

Internal Applicants
