In accordance with the Agreement between Detroit Federation of Teachers and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.
**DPSCD will offer a $15,000 retention/recruitment certification bonus to existing and new educators who hold an active State of Michigan License for Occupational Therapy for the 2024-2025 school year.
Position Summary:
Occupational therapists lead the process in development, implementation, and coordination of the occupational therapy process. Screening, evaluation, educational program, transition planning, therapeutic intervention, and exit planning is provided for students identified with or suspected of having disabilities that interfere with their ability to perform daily life activities and participate in the school environment. Primary responsibility shall include but not limited to student safety and appropriate collaboration and attention to each student’s readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare. Occupational therapist is expected to independently review outcomes and modify intervention programs. Employee may work in a variety of elementary and/or secondary educational, individual or team settings. Employee may rotate among several schools. The employee works with a high level of independence and professional discretion. Professional judgment and clinical knowledge are used to develop individualized programming based on occupational performance deficits in the areas of personal care, student role, interaction skills, process skills, play, community integration/work, and graphic communication.
