Salary Range:  $87,173 - $105,297 annually

Reports to: Principal

Bargaining Unit: OSAS

Position Summary: 

As the primary point person for the DSA Multimedia Program, the Program Director works as a leader and a continued visionary for the full implementation of the multimedia curriculum program within the Detroit School of Arts. The Program Director will work with DPSCD Central Office departments and community/business stakeholders to ensure the district can fulfill its articulated commitment to the radio/television and visual arts students of the Detroit School of Alts. The Program Director will be specifically responsible for key tasks associated with the management of the DSA Multimedia Program such as interfacing with the Office of College and Career Readiness to ensure the MDE CTE-approved program adheres to all required guidelines; maintaining contact with the advisory board; fundraising activities; overseeing the partnership between DSA, WCRJ, and other key business partners; and ensuring the vision of the program meets its goals while maintaining alignment with the district's goals. The Program Director will also collaborate with the Principal of DSA to supervise/oversee the use of the various content producing areas of DSA (i.e. the TV studios, edit rooms, auditoriums, etc.). 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess and provide evidence of a Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an institution accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools or an equivalent higher education agency;
  • Industry credentials in multimedia production preferred.
  • Requires at least five (5) years of Radio, TV, Multimedia industry experience, including knowledge of current industry best practices, and secondary curriculum as it relates to radio/television career technical programs (CTE), including program supervisory work.
  • Applicant should have demonstrated experience in broadcast/video production management and broadcast/video production, audio engineering, and website management. Additionally, partnership development and fundraising experience are a plus.

Essential Functions:

  1. Serve as the main point of contact for the DSA Multimedia Program.
  2. Facilitate the partnership between the radio station (DPTV) and DSA to ensure that project-based learning programs are occurring with fidelity and meet both academic and professional standards.
  3. Collaborate with the DSA Advisory Board to guide the multimedia program.
  4. Conduct a gap analysis of the current DSA Multimedia Program.
  5. Develop a comprehensive plan for the future state of the DSA Multimedia Program.
  6. Lead the full implementation of the DSA Multimedia Program.
  7. Collaborate with the Office of Career and College Readiness to ensure compliance with CTE mandates.
  8. Develop channels of content distribution for content generated by the new DSA curriculum.
  9. Develop a comprehensive professional development schedule for DSA teachers to maintain knowledge of equipment, and industry standard.
  10. Collaborate with the station licensee on fund raising goals for the multimedia program and DSA.
  11. Coordinate efforts to raise funds for student program activities and improvement.
  12. Monitor and evaluate all station licensee parmerships to ensure full compliance.
  13. Analyze the effectiveness of the DSA Multimedia Program as a platform for career development
  14. Develop internships for students meeting determined criteria.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal.

Security Clearance:

Internal Applicants
