By creating distributive leadership structures in schools, Master Teachers — in collaboration with school leaders — will increase opportunities for feedback and growth to drive increased student achievement, while building their own capacity as leaders.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring other teachers preferred.

 Essential Functions:

  1. Lead weekly or bi-weekly common planning sessions with content peer group
  2. Serve on the ILT team and plan for adult learning sessions with administrators (common planning, PLC and professional development)
  3. Provide one-on-one observation, feedback and coaching support to teachers
  4. Facilitate collaborative professional development time during before or after-school workshops, Wednesday staff meetings or district PD days
  5. Co-plan lessons with small teams of peer teachers
  6. Plan for common planning and professional development sessions with other Master Teachers within the Cohort at the monthly Master Teacher meetings
  7. Use data to inform instructional decisions, including analyzing student data to inform instructional planning and tracking teacher progress in implementing effective practices.
  8. Mentor new or student teachers.
  9. Model lessons and instructional practices for peer teachers
  10. Maintain accurate and complete records of Master Teacher interactions via logs
  11. Execute excellent lesson delivery of core instruction and use of instructional materials as well as demonstrate high levels of student growth and proficiency.

Application Process:

Candidates who meet the certification and experience requirements will receive an email with the link to the second part of the Master Teacher application. Candidates who successfully pass the Master Teacher application and screening process will be placed on the eligibility list to interview at a school site.

Master Teachers will receive confirmation of placement once selected by a school.
