Position Summary: 

As a critical member of the DPSCD’s Technology Infrastructure Team, the Enterprise Architect will be responsible for the enterprise level systems design, implementation, security, and administration with a focus on the end-user experience and application services. The Enterprise Architect will develop best practices and strategies to maintain and manage the enterprise applications environment at DPSCD. This role is responsible for the security and management of critical systems such as unified communications, Office365 administration, and all facets of security, including cyber and physical. 
 
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or related discipline. 

  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in technology infrastructure implementation and support.

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience leading a team of engineers in enterprise systemdesign, implementation and support.

  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Cloud Solutions including design, implementation, migration, operations and support of Azure / O365.

  • Strong background in network and cyber securityincluding SIEM. 

  • Experience in enterprise Video Management Solutions with the ability to lead large scale physical security integration. 

  • Evidence of strong, effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience.

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. 

  • Strong¿analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment.

 Essential Functions:

  1. Lead and oversee all aspects of enterprise solutions including unified communications, integrated physical security, cyber security,O365, end-user device imaging and management.

  1. Work collaboratively with the Systems Architect on the design and expansion of cloud-based enterprise solutions including Microsoft Azure / Office 365.

  1. Design, coordinate, manage and deploy cloud-based enterprise solutions to add value to the long-term technology strategy for the District.

  1. Develop materials and training to promote and advocate for¿increased¿District-wide awareness of disaster recovery and cybersecurity efforts.

  1. Supervise, coach and mentor enterprise engineer team to achieve high-level results. 

  1. Supervise and manage internal operations and maintenance activities, including remote monitoring and management system, respond to alerts, monitor health and seek improvement opportunities. 

  1. Provide sound judgment for solving complex technical issues. Including effectively communicating the problem to management with recommendations for action to resolve the issue. 

  1. Produce high quality project plans, reports, presentations and data displays for review and analysis by District stakeholders. Develop and maintain project schedules and task details by utilizing a district-wide project management solution and tools such as reports, tracking charts, checklists, and budget forecasting.

  1. Hold engineers as well as vendors accountable for tasks, deliverables and adherence to project timelines ensuring projects stay on-track.

  1. Manage vendor relationships and contracts including holding regular meetings, quality assurance and testing as appropriate. 

  1. Lead the development of Standard Operating Procedures¿and¿Change Management¿process¿for enterprise systems operations including documentation, training and communication.

  1. Proactively measure key performance indicators, conduct performance assessments and system audits regularly to identify areas for improvement, possible risks and exposures for mitigation and proactive resolution.

  1. Develop appropriate real-time dashboards and insights to inform District stakeholders of the current health and maturity of all enterprise systems.

  1. Maintain familiarity with currently implemented and new technology, including new versions of software/firmware, implementation of upgrades, and changes to procedures/commands.

  1. Research, recommend and implement policy, processes and procedures, and serve as an agent to inform, advocate and administer new policies, procedures and change orders. 

  1. Provide sound judgment for solving complex technical issues. Including effectively communicating the problem to management with recommendations for action to resolve the issue.

  1. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Security Clearance: 

Internal Applicants 

If you are a current Detroit Public Schools Community District employee, you do not have to submit to a new security clearance, unless your new role requires a different type of criminal background check.
